New Delhi, April 12. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that calling late Arun Jaitley a politician would be limiting his personality. He was a visionary. A leader who did not limit politics only to power, but made it a medium of service, principles and understanding. From student life to being one of the most influential ministers of the Government of India, his journey was definitely dedicated to truth, courage and continuous service.

In the second 'The Arun Jaitley Memorial Debate' program organized at Shri Ram College of Commerce on Saturday, Shekhawat described Arun Jaitley as the architect of the Indian economy. He said that as Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley ji did many historic and structural reforms. Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is the backbone of India's integrated tax system today, was not easy to implement, but Arun ji made a significant contribution in bringing this reform into practice with a wonderful balance of consensus, dialogue and cooperation.

The Union Minister said that the dedication with which Arun Jaitley ji worked for economic discipline and transparency is still commendable. Whether it is keeping the fiscal deficit under control or promoting digitalization, his approach was certainly both visionary and practical. Shekhawat said that Arun Jaitley ji discharged many responsibilities as a Union Minister and played an important role in making laws that are convenient for the public.

Shekhawat said that Arun Jaitley ji held many important posts like Ministry of Defense, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Law, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, but he never had any trouble with the bureaucracy. He helped the bureaucracy to unleash its power, so that its full contribution could be taken in public service, in which he was remarkably successful. Shekhawat said that calling Arun Jaitley a politician would be limiting his personality. He was a visionary, a leader who did not limit politics to power but made it a medium of service, principles and wisdom.

Union Minister Shekhawat said that from student life to being one of the most influential ministers of the Government of India, his journey was definitely dedicated to truth, courage and continuous service. His arrest during the Emergency and his participation in the student movement created a strong democratic spirit in him, which was reflected in his decisions throughout his life. Shekhawat also awarded the students who performed best in the debate. Shekhawat said that late Arun Jaitley was a student in this college and made a name in student politics here. He will remain a source of inspiration.
