Pakistan should look into its own affairs before casting evil eyes on India

2024 has presented a very worrying picture in terms of security in Pakistan. According to the report published by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), this year there were 444 terrorist attacks on security forces in Pakistan, in which at least 685 security personnel lost their lives. This figure is a matter of serious concern not only for Pakistan but also for regional and global security. 2024 has proved to be the deadliest year in the last decade for the security forces of Pakistan. Especially, the internal security situation of Pakistan has become even more pathetic due to the targeting of security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. Certainly, these incidents highlight the weakness of Pakistan's internal security and raise the question that a country which is itself a victim of terrorism is carrying out terrorist attacks on others.

The increasing number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan and the martyrdom of security forces clearly shows that Pakistan's internal security system is in crisis. Terrorist activities have increased significantly in sensitive provinces like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. These provinces have faced conflicts and instability before, but the situation has worsened further in 2024. The increasing activity of local terrorist groups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan has become a serious challenge for Pakistan. Attacks on security personnel in these areas are not only a security problem but also a reflection of the inability of Pakistan's ruling system. The whole world knows that the problem of terrorism is taking root in Pakistan and solving this problem is a big challenge for the government and army of Pakistan.

The network of terrorist organizations is spread with such complexity that eliminating it is a long and difficult process. On the one hand, the government and security forces of Pakistan are trying to stop terrorist attacks, but on the other hand it is also clear that they need to give priority to internal security in the fight against terrorists. Despite the deteriorating internal security situation in Pakistan, Pakistan has left no stone unturned in promoting terrorist activities to target India. Pakistan's policy of promoting terrorism, especially in Kashmir, is well known. Pakistan has always used terrorism against India and supported sending terrorist organizations to carry out terrorist attacks on India. Despite this, Pakistan has failed to stop the growing terrorist activities on its own soil. The attacks on Pakistan's security forces in 2024 are proof that Pakistan has failed to deal with its internal security crisis.

This dual policy of Pakistan, in which on the one hand it uses terrorists against India and on the other hand promotes terrorists in its own country, not only faces criticism in the global community, but this policy makes Pakistan's security situation even more unstable. If Pakistan fails to strengthen its internal security system and take real action against terrorism, it will have an adverse effect not only on Pakistan, but on the entire regional and global security. In these circumstances, it is definitely time for introspection for Pakistan. On one hand, it is adamant on its policy of exporting terrorism against India and on the other hand, terrorist attacks are taking place on its own soil. Pakistan must understand that unless it strengthens its internal security, it will fail to justify its intentions to the outside world. Pakistan's priority should be to solve its internal security crisis first, because if the country itself is facing the threat of terrorism, then it cannot solve its problems by targeting another country.

Pakistan's policies against terrorism have led to instability and violence. Pakistan must accept that exporting terrorism is not only dangerous for its neighbours but can also harm itself. The increasing number of internal conflicts and terrorist attacks in Pakistan indicate that the country needs to re-evaluate its priorities. Pakistan must understand that if it does not handle its domestic security properly, it will not find a way to recover itself from crises. Pakistan must first take concrete steps to strengthen its internal security. Clear and effective strategies must be made to eliminate the network of terrorists. Along with this, Pakistan must also take concrete steps to stop exporting terrorism by changing its national security policy. Pakistan must understand that exporting terrorism not only promotes regional instability but it is also becoming a cause of long-term danger for Pakistan.

Additionally, Pakistan needs to increase cooperation with the international community, so that effective action can be taken against terrorists at the global level. It is time for Pakistan to stabilize itself by changing its policy so that it can become a responsible partner in the war against terrorism not only for Pakistan but for the entire region and the world. The way 2024 has proved to be a warning year for Pakistan. In that situation, Pakistan will have to understand that before exporting terrorism, it should make strengthening its internal security the biggest priority. If Pakistan does not solve its internal problems, then it is not only putting its citizens in danger but is also damaging its international image.
