India Showcases Defence Might with Inauguration of BrahMos Facility and Success of Operation Sindoor

Lucknow, May 11 :  In a landmark event on National Technology Day, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow, hailing it as a major step towards India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The event also witnessed a strong message on national security, with the Defence Minister describing Operation Sindoor as a powerful demonstration of India’s political, strategic and military willpower.

Terming the operation a decisive blow to terrorism, Shri Rajnath Singh said that India's armed forces not only destroyed terrorist infrastructure across the border but also sent a clear message to those who support terrorism. He stated that the operation extended even to Rawalpindi, the headquarters of the Pakistani military, underscoring India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. The Minister emphasized that India's actions were precise and targeted only terrorist infrastructure, in stark contrast to Pakistan's indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas.

Highlighting the significance of the BrahMos facility, Shri Singh said the Rs 300 crore centre spread over 200 acres will play a crucial role in enhancing India’s defence production capacity. The complex will focus on integration of booster subassemblies, avionics, propellant and ramjet engines. It is expected to generate 500 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs, giving a boost to local employment and industrial growth.

The facility, part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), symbolizes India’s growing capabilities in high-end technology and reflects the government’s commitment to the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make-in-India, Make-for-the-World' vision. With over 180 MoUs signed and Rs 4,000 crore already invested, UPDIC is emerging as a major defence manufacturing hub.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Raksha Mantri for their leadership in making Lucknow a pivotal centre for defence manufacturing. He stated that such initiatives will reduce migration by providing local employment and enhance the skill base among students and engineers.

As global defence spending touches $2,718 billion, India is positioning itself as a key player in the sector. The BrahMos facility, according to Shri Rajnath Singh, is not just a symbol of technological prowess, but also a message of deterrence and national strength.
